Summer: Wilderness expedition

This trip requires more stamina and some experience of outdoor living. You will be accompanied by a guide throughout the trip who will help you with any challenges which might arise.

Day 1: Welcome day

We coordinate collection from your arrival destination and drive you to the village of Elgå. We start your trip by providing you with information at our welcome area at Femund Friluft, followed by installation in the Northern Lights Sami tent. Supper will be prepared on an open fire by the lean-to.

You will be able to spend the evening inside the tent, where you can gaze up at the night sky, or you can sit outside by the campfire.

Day 2: Canoeing in the Lake Femunden area

We will drive to the lakes where we will spend the day canoeing. This trip takes approx. 15 minutes. The trip starts at Lake Håmmårsjøen and the day will be spent in the canoes, paddling along several lovely lakes in the area. We will visit several lakes, which will involve having to carry the canoes for short distances, before putting our tents up at Lake Båthussjøen. We will eat a light lunch along the way. It does not take long to reach the wilderness – the kingdom of reindeer, moose, hares, foxes and other species.

Supper, consisting of local food, will be prepared on an open fire. We will enjoy a quite evening by the campfire before crawling into our tents for the night.

Day 3: Hiking in the mountains

We will enjoy a quite morning and eat breakfast at Lake Båthussjøen before packing up and embarking on the day’s trip. We will leave the canoes behind as we move up into the mountains and walk across Mt. Båthusberget to Lake Volsjøen. Today we will be aiming to reach the Sami tent on the northern edge of this lake. This walk is approx. 5-6 km across fairly demanding terrain. We will eat a light lunch along the way.

Supper will be prepared outdoors on the open fire.  We will spend the night in the Sami tent which can accommodate 3-4 people. It is a simple wooden Sami tent with a wood-burning stove and beds along the walls.

Day 4: Walking in the pine forests

We will eat breakfast at Lake Volsjøen before packing up and starting our journey back to Elgå and Båtstø Camping. Today’s walk is approx. 7-8 km, mainly on footpaths and some roads. Relatively easy terrain. When we arrive at Båtstø Camping we will check into the cabins and there will be opportunities for taking a shower before supper is served at Femund Fjellstue.

You will be able to spend the evening as your please and enjoy the peace and tranquility and the views along the eastern shore of Lake Femunden.
